No way around it, we’ve crossed the line past Halloween and nearly On to Jolly Old St. Nick. ‘Tis almost the season, isn’t it? I think all retailers want us to just spend as much time thinking about — and planning for it — as doing it!
But wait just a minute. Hold on. There’s this graceful period we’re about to pass through when we give thanks. I think it’s my favorite of them all (well, perhaps except for Easter!) We call it Thanksgiving. I call it a holiday of feasting.
How will you give thanks this year? How will you remember those who made a difference in your life? What will you do to make a difference in someone’s life that will make them give thanks for you? Not give thanks to you, no. For you.
I choose to give thanks for the people who made and continue to make this country great. I choose to give thanks for my children and my family. I give thanks for an amazing God who loves me so much that he chose the nails for me. In His honor, I choose to do what others won’t for those for whom others didn’t. I choose love.
The thing I want for Christmas, the thing I’m thankful for, the thing I already have: Love. May you too be blessed.
